What is it about orchids? I can't help but use them in my designs! When I began painting for this project I never thought orchids would appear again in my sketch book, having two popular orchid compacts already! But the thought of setting an orchid painting under glass for my new range... well, 'Orchid Phalaenopsis Be Tris' just had to be painted. Look at those amazing magentas and reds! I had such fun trying to reproduce them in oils!
You should soon be able to see samples of these paintings under glass in the new compacts. I'm planning to use 'Tris' in a new compact mirror for bridesmaids, and wonder whether to use text in the design (like my Daisy With Love compact mirror. It's been so well-received!). What do you think? Probably best if I share some ideas with you via my Facebook page!
I recently bought Orchids by Bruce Curtis as a reference for my studio. The photos are breathtaking. I'd hoped to find something similar for British orchids, but for now Cymbidium, Cattleya and of course Phalaenopsis orchids are keeping me stocked with ideas....
PS - If you're in the UK, you might like The North of England Orchid Society. I'm hoping to get to their annual show this year!
